In 2016, Rooted Hospitality Group opened RHUM on East Main Street in Patchogue—a downtown twist on its original waterfront favorite, RUMBA Island-Inspired Cuisine & Rum Bar. At the time, the goal was to create something slightly different for the local crowd.
Over the years, it became clear: RHUM had always carried RUMBA’s signature soul—the bold, island-inspired flavors, the handcrafted rum cocktails, and the unmistakable Caribbean vibes. Guests felt it too. They didn’t see a different brand—they saw more of what they already loved. And that’s when Rooted Hospitality Group knew: it was time to stop swimming against the tide.
In 2025, RHUM officially transformed into RUMBA Island-Inspired Cuisine & Rum Bar located in Patchogue—the same island spirit, now with a name to match. And it’s bigger and bolder than ever, spanning three vibrant floors renovated and designed for escape, energy, and connection.
But this isn’t just a rebrand. It’s a homecoming.
The story of RUMBA Island-Inspired Cuisine & Rum Bar began with Rachel and David Hersh, founders of Rooted Hospitality Group, who spent years chasing sunshine and soul food across the Caribbean, South Florida, and beyond. Their dream was simple: create a place where the food is fresh, the drinks are strong, and the good vibes never end. That dream came to life in 2010 with the opening of the first RUMBA in Hampton Bays.
In Patchogue, Rooted Hospitality Group brought that same island DNA to a new audience. RHUM was a way of blending downtown energy with tropical flavor—but over time, the line between the two disappeared. From dockside to rooftop, from Hampton Bays to Main Street, the mission remained the same: deliver unforgettable hospitality through flavor, rhythm, and joy.
